The Flashback Lounge

Remember When You First Fell In Love With Music

AXPONA has no shortage of rooms setup for serious evaluation of the latest, greatest components in high-end audio. The seats are arranged in the best listening position, and the music being played is carefully cultivated selections of mature, well recorded music, in high bitrate digital or on pristine 180 gram vinyl. And you'll find that Cardas cables are featured in a number of the best sounding rooms here at the show.

But this isn't one of those rooms.

The Cardas Flashback Lounge is our answer to our own question - why can't there just be a room at an audio show with fun music that we actually listen to at home? Who knows, maybe people actually listen to the sounds of wood sticks tapping on hollow tubes, confusing jazz, and Diana Krall at home. And if that's you, great. But our favorite time at an audio show is towards the end of the last day, when the serious music gets put away, and rooms start blasting Metallica, The Rolling Stones, and Van Halen.

This year at AXPONA, we decided to do a room that's a somewhat irreverent and tongue-in-cheek. A room that plays that sort of music the whole time. Decorated with posters and artifacts from the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s. You know, the eras during which most of the attendees at the show grew up. The eras during which they fell in love with music - a lifelong passion that lead them to attending a HiFi show in their... more mature years.
